Artist's Statement

Sharon Watson began the continual learning process of “potting” at the Haliburton School of Fine Arts in 2000 when she took the “Ceramics Certificate course offered for the first time that year. She was hooked. It wasn’t just the feel of the clay, the challenges, the capabilities, but also the endless possibilities.

Since 2000, Sharon has taken as many courses as she could from many wonderful, inspirational potters. She works out of her “Mudder Earth Pottery Studio” in Pickeral Point, just north of Lindsay. Sharon belongs to the Kawartha Potters Guild and to Fusion, The Ontario Clay and Glass Association. Her pottery is at the Ethel Curry Gallery in Haliburton, the Green Goose Gallery in Uxbridge and the Station Gallery in Fenelon Falls.

You can also see Sharon’s work during the annual Victoria County Studio Tour, and the Kawartha Arts Festival in Fenelon Falls.

Sharon strives to make the best pottery that she can, whether it is functional or just plain fun. Her functional glazes are totally food safe . She hopes that the love and enjoyment she derives from making these “pots” can be seen and felt in the finished pieces
