Upcoming Workshops 2012
Chris Snedden - April 21st
Workshop with Chris Snedden, Slide presentation on Friday 20th evening and all day workshop on the 21st. Workshop will be Photo Image Transfer Plus - lots of information - all materials provided. Cost $70 for members - $90 for non members. There is a $50 material fee that must also be added at the time of registration.
This $50 is for your own individual professionally-made silkscreen with your custom images already burned into, ready to use, and a squeegee.
From Chris - "I will demonstrate the process of making your own screens and what materials to buy, so that you can, after you print out a bunch of slip transfers with this screen, wash out the hardened photo-emulsion and reburn the screen with new images at a later date. The nice thing about this is that you can print out a bunch of sheets of transfers and keep them for later use, wash out the screen and make other slip transfer prints with the same screen."
The total fee for the April 21st workshop will be $120. If you don't require the screen/squeegee, then deduct the $50 material fee.
Application to include with payment is here.
The deadline for applications is April 7th, 2012

Hand building with Monika Schaefer - August 20th, 2011
A special day in August was spent with handbuilder Monika Schaefer from Carlisle, Ontario. A group of guild members, as well as two non-members spent the day with Monika learning her techniques for handbuilding. She began the day with 10 specific tips, which quickly expanded into 12+.
Monika brought a number of her completed pieces, including tree necklaces, birds, flower pillows and birdhouses. Part of the day focused on each person making a bird house, and the balance of the time we spent running up and down stairs to build up our latex molds outside on the deck.
Considering we had to work around a wedding about to take place and a group of kids having a barbeque at the Lions Centre, I think we accomplished a great deal. Thanks to Monika for an informative day and latex molds we can all use in our studios.
